Softworks saves Games Manufacturer two days of payroll each month
Press Release: 10 June 2002
Games Workshop Ltd, manufacturer of tabletop fantasy war games, has installed Softworks Time & Attendance solution to automate HR processes and reduce admin time. The Softworks system provides Games Workshop with the means to monitor the time & attendance details of 350 clocking employees, as well as monitoring the absence and holiday booking for the rest of the 1200 employees.
The main driver behind the new time & attendance system was the need to cope with the company's quirky rules and shift enhancements, which previously the payroll department had to calculate manually each month.
The solution is easy to use and can be operated by the supervisors at Games Workshop, releasing payroll & HR from much time-consuming administration and queries about time & attendance details. The interface between ClockWise and Games Workshop's payroll system has resulted in a significant decrease in queries to the payroll department, whilst presenting much more detailed information.
"We used to have to work out all the shift enhancements and calculate the entitlements to be paid manually," said Jackie Duckmanton, Payroll Supervisor at Games Workshop Ltd. "Now we don't have to do that because the Softworks solution does it all for us. I think we must save at least two days each 4-weekly pay period through not having to make all the manual adjustments."
"It means that employees can see how they're being paid, and we can run much more detailed reports from the payroll system. The main benefits to the system we've noticed are the reduction in queries on payslips, and the significant reduction in admin time. We wanted a system that will grow with us. ClockWise was the right product at the right price, and it has definitely made us more efficient," concluded Duckmanton.
According to Adrian Thornton-Willis, Softworks' UK manager, "it's very rewarding to hear that Games Workshop has gained such a significant time saving since the introduction of ClockWise. We know that companies can generate significant tangible and intangible savings by implementing softworks workforce solution, but we often find they don't know which area those savings have come from."
