Woking Borough Council installs Softworks' Time and Attendance

Press Release: 08 November 2002

Woking Borough Council has selected the ClockWise time & attendance solution from Softworks Computing to streamline its payroll process. The system is being implemented for use by 200 of the Council's staff operating in two of its sites, including the leisure centre and swimming pool. The Council has also chosen to introduce Softworks finger-scan clocking terminals, with PINs, for increased security.
Controlled centrally from Woking Borough Council's civic offices, the ClockWise system will integrate seamlessly with both the council's HR & payroll systems. This will reduce admin time significantly and give greater control. Leisure staff had previously recorded payable hours manually, using paper timesheets, and it was estimated that it was taking up to 15 hours per week to administer the payroll.

According to Simon Howick, Personnel Officer, "we needed a time & attendance system that could handle our complicated pay rules, and Softworks had put a lot of work into really understanding our needs. ClockWise was a good combination of technological capability and price, and Softworks could guarantee that they could match our pay rules, which gave us a lot of confidence."

According to Adrian Thornton-Willis, UK manager of Softworks, "it's really encouraging to be able to provide our time & attendance system to Woking Borough Council, as we try to further expand our presence within the local government sector."

We used to have to work out all the shift enhancements and calculate the entitlements to be paid manually. Now we don't have to do that because the Softworks solution does it all for us. I think we must save at least two days each 4-weekly pay period through not having to make all the manual adjustments
