December 2008 - CIPD Conference
Softworks to exhibit at CIPD Conference, Killarney, May 2003 Conference Theme:
Competitiveness & Partnership - The Business Paradox
Softworks takes a stand at the annual CIPD Conference, held this year in The Great Southern Hotel, Killarney. With approximately 400 delegates expected to attend, this is a major event for HR Managers and Personnel. This year's conference aims to address two new schools of thought. One side argues that the deregulated, "less government is better" approach is the way forward while the other believes in the expansion of partnership at national and enterprise levels. These contradictions have created the Business Paradox.
According to Michael McDonnell, Director of CIPD Ireland "there's one thing both sides are agreed on though: it's all about people. How they are paid relative to their performance, the implication of employment legislation and EU Directives, and most importantly of all the HR policies and practices in place in the organisation."
Speakers at the conference include Professor Gary Cooper from the Manchester School of Management who talks on the hot topic of stress in today's pressurised work environment. Dr Mary Redmond of Arthur Cox talks on the implications of emerging legal regulation including the Information and Consultation Directive due out in 2005. Co-authors of the international bestseller "Funky Business", Kjell Nordstrom and Jonas Ridderstrale close the conference with an upbeat talk on re-energising the organisation, challenging HR Managers to break free from redundant organisational thinking.
Softworks exhibit at Stand 31 where they will launch their new product, AbsenceWise, designed to help companies minimise the negative effects and expense of sick leave while at the same time simplifying the process for calculating and reclaiming sick pay.
